Janet L Tomlin
Creating has always been her language. It’s not just something she does—it's a way of life. She received an inspiring gift and thought, I can do that. It was a fascination for the smallest of canvases—grains of rice. For 25 years, her work, celebrated for its precision and originality, earned awards and a following at art and craft shows. COVID brought retirement — but not stillness.
In recent years, Janet's creative focus has shifted to larger-scale works. With paint, mixed media, and handmade designs, she continues to explore new forms of expression while staying rooted in the same artistic spirit that shaped her early work.
Douglas E Young - 1954-2019
Douglas E. Young was an artist whose vibrant paintings reflected his unique worldview and playful humor. He earned an anthropology degree from Indiana University and during that time spent a year at Harlaxton College in Lincolnshire, England. Young traveled extensively across the United States, Europe, Northern Africa, and Australia. Settling in Seattle, inspired by a recurring dream, his visions led him to painting. His vibrant works were influenced by Aboriginal art, dot style painting and vivid colors. He studied the works of European post-impressionists like Van Gogh, Picasso, and Miró while developing his signature style. As dedicated professional, Young worked with developmentally disabled children for over 30 years. He left behind hundreds of paintings, gifting many to loved ones.
